The American Samoa Inter-Island
Table Tennis Championship
Week of May 4th through 8th, 2009
The week of May 4th through May 8th, table tennis players from across American Samoa gathered at the ASNOC Training Facility to test their muster against each other in the American Samoa Inter-Island Championships. The Extreme Table Tennis Team was no exception with their full ranking taking part.
The tournament began with a mixed round of singles play on Monday. Following this, the semi-finals and a round robin final was held on Tuesday (May 5th). All players in the Extreme Table Tennis Team moved forward into the semi-final round. Even still, the players making the final round were all members of the Extreme Team.

The finals were played by Gun C. Kang, Tim Jones, Jr. and Tim Jones, Sr. In the first round of the finals, Tim Jones, Jr. played Tim Jones, Sr. The ball was flying back and forth as both Jones' players fought hard to continue playing. The junior Jones had a monster swing that knocked the elder Jones out of the competition.
From there, Tim Jr. played Gun. Gun was consistent through the entire match which proved to be a strong challenge for Tim Jr. That being said, Tim Jr. countered with a strong forehand. What a match! The two titans slammed the ball back and forth until the dust settled and a winner was announced. Gun edged ahead of the junior Jones with his strong and consistent play to win the singles competition.
