Recyling Oil Means Power!
And At Extreme, We're All About The Power!

With Green quickly becoming the favorite catch phrase, it's easy to find it being tossed around by a wide variety of companies, manufacturers and suppliers. But, at EPI, Green has been our focus for over a decade.  We know how important reliable, cost effective, environmentally friendly power is all over the world and especially in the South Pacific.  In fact, developing methods of recycling waste oils and utilizing them to provide power to some of the remote islands has been a passion of our founder, Tim Jones.

In fact, Tim was cited by the United Nations for his efforts in utilizing Coconut Oil as a fuel source for electricity in Tonga.   These efforts brought power and electricity to locations which were previously in the dark.   Through achieving this, Tim became well versed in the point by point mechanics of recycling used oil into a biodiesel product used for power conversion.

With so many areas a company could go Green, why recycle oil?  Alas, there is a lot of it sitting around stored in drums.   The barrells and drums of oil often sit around rusting.   By recyling the oil, we can help to eliminate these unsightly containers but we can also provide power to some very needy places.

In all reality, oil is a great fuel source.  Typically, due to the abundance and availability, canola oil is typically a first option for biodiesel manufacturing.  However, due to geography, in American Samoa coconut oil is proving to be just as viable.  Canola oils are good options due to their low freezing point of -10 Degrees Celcius.  Coconut oil is a great option in areas where the temperature does not drop below 62 Degrees Farenheit.

Oils typically have fatty acids and waxy components which can be harmful to engines.  Prior to using, these must be separated and removed from the oil.

Since 2000, in the US, over 11 Billion liters of waste vegetable oil per year.  Proportionately, this makes vegetable oil recycling a leading option for alternative fuel sources.  Pure plant oil (PPO) (or Straight Vegetable Oil (SVO)), in contrast to waste vegetable oil, is not a byproduct of other industries, and thus its prospects for use as fuel are not limited by the capacities of other industries.
